How we verify our legal data
Every limitation period, court holiday, and filing rule in these tools is taken from the law itself, checked against the official statute, dated, and linked so you can confirm it. We do not seed values from general knowledge; an entry that cannot be tied to a cited statute is not published.
Where our citations point
We always prefer the official source. Because states publish their codes differently, each citation is one of three tiers, labelled in the result:
- Official source: the state legislature or official code site, or an official compilation.
- Public-domain official text: a faithful copy of the official code where the state offers no free government version (for Georgia, the public-domain O.C.G.A. the U.S. Supreme Court confirmed is law).
- Secondary source: a reputable legal database, used only where no free official text exists. The figure is still verified against the official statute.
How current it is
We review the data at least once a year, and sooner when we learn the law has changed. Each tool shows a dated badge, and every result repeats the date it was last checked. We do not claim continuous, real-time monitoring.
Information, not legal advice
Deadlines depend on the specific facts, service, tolling, statutes of repose, and court orders. Always verify against the cited statute or rule, or consult a licensed attorney, before relying on a date. Found an error? Email support@formspal.com.
